During 1960-61, the Association welcomed four Associate Members and seven Full Members to its rolls.

The Association sponsored a total of six presentations at the New York Academy of Medicine in the following order: “Existential Psychiatry and Group Psychotherapy” (Thomas Hora, M.D.), “Kairos and the Therapeutic Process” (Harold Kelman, M.D.), “Distorted Communication in the Psychoneurotic” (Panel Discussion: Dominick A. Barbara, M.D., Martin Symonds, M.D., Robert L. Sharoff, M.D., and Joost A. Meerloo, M.D.), “The Function of Sympathy in the Psychotherapeutic Process” (Annual Karen Horney Lecture: Edith H. Weigert, M.D.), “The Moral Shift in Psychoanalysis” (Morris Isenberg, M.D. and Louis E. DeRosis, M.D.) and “The Dream: A Mobilizing Force in Therapy” (Frederick A. Weiss, M.D.).

There were four Interval Meetings: “A Report on Some Current Conditions in Foreign Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis” (Benjamin J. Becker, M.D., Leon Gottfried, M.D., Harold Kelman, M.D., and Jack L. Rubins, M.D.), “A Report on the Symposium Alienation and the Search for Identity,” “The Psychodynamics of Depression” (Bella S. Van Bark, M.D.) and “The Utilization of Anger in Therapy” (Houston Brummit, M.D.). On November 5 and 6, the well-planned symposium on “Alienation and the Search for Identity” was held under the able chairmanship of Dr. Frederick A. Weiss. The event was an outstanding success, drawing the attendance of many psychoanalysts and related workers in our field.
