Applications of the Child Attachment Interview. A Practitioner-Researcher's Experience of Working with the Measure of Attachment in Middle Childhood

Joanna North, M.A.

This article describes the writer's use of the child attachment interview in her work with the Family Court and with children in the looked after sector, building on her experience of learning to use the interview and training as a reliable assessor with the Anna Freud Centre. The article describes features of and characteristics of the various classifications of attachment involved in the assessment and illustrates the richness of this assessment instrument in describing the child's actual experience of episodes of attachment.
