Poetry

I Am the Voice

Esmé Dann

I am the voice of those afraid to speak,

Those of us that society calls weak …

Those you tease every day, The ones who have nothing to say …

We have feelings too okay?

I am the voice of those alone,

The ones abandoned and on their own …

The ones who hide their pain in their eyes,

Those who you never saw cry …

Those of us you just pass by …

I am the voice of us you forget,

The ones of us society regrets …

The ones tossed aside, Your hurtful words we abide …

Waiting for the pain to subside…

I am the voice of those who weep in shame,

The ones you continuously blame …

The ones who are are always there,

When will you begin to care?
