Considerations of space make it difficult for us to give serious attention in the JAPA book section to all the worthy psychoanalytic books published each year. We have even less room for books outside the field. Yet once in awhile a controversial publication creates an intellectual furor to which psychoanalytic thinking may make a unique contribution. Daniel Goldhagen's Hitler's Willing Executioners is one such volume. We therefore feature in this issue a thoughtful review of the controversy by Stanley Coen.
