Letter to the Editor

Although this letter was originally addressed to Dr. Kaufman, it touches on an aspect of widespread interest and Dr. Kaufman has sent it for publication.

Dear Dr. Kaufman:

I don't remember exactly whether it was agreed that I should write you or Dr. Gitelson my suggestions for a better organization of the program of next year's convention. So to be on the safe side I am sending him a copy of this.

Both I and a number of friends to whom I have talked have found the discussion groups very satisfactory. However, the fact that eight discussion groups took place simultaneously was extremely frustrating, as all of us would have liked to be present at several of them. I therefore would suggest that each discussion group be allotted not more than half a day, and that they be spread over more than one day so as to enable the listeners to participate in more than one group.

Another suggestion might be either to cut down on the number of discussion groups or to relegate some of them to the Midwinter Meeting.

Finally it would seem desirable to publish at least the reports on the discussion groups in toto, a policy which I believe has been initiated already in the Bulletin.

Cordially yours,
René Spitz, M.D.
New York City.
