Annual Meeting—April 30—May 4, 1980

The 69th Annual Meeting of the American Psychoanalytic Association was held at the Hotel St. Francis in San Francisco, California, April 30 to May 4, 1980. An abstract of the Business Meeting of Members, including reports of the Secretary of the Executive Council, the Secretary of the Board on Professional Standards, the Treasurer of the Association, the Editor of the Journal, and the Chairman of the Fund for Psychoanalytic Research, as well as other transactions, is published in this issue of the Bulletin. Members who desire to obtain copies of the Official Minutes of any of these bodies may do so by communication with the Administrative Director, Mrs. Helen Fischer, One East Fifty-seventh Street, New York, N.Y. 10022.

Business Meeting of Members

The Business Meeting of Members was held on Saturday, May 3, 1980 at 8:30 A.M., with Dr. Rebecca Z. Solomon, President, presiding, and Dr. Robert M. Gilliland as Secretary. After his introduction by Dr. Solomon, Dr. Arnold M. Cooper, incoming President, presided.

I. MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 15, 1979 MEETING OF MEMBERS

The minutes of the December 15, 1979 Meeting were approved as published.

II. INTRODUCTION OF NEW PRESIDENT AND PRESENTATION TO PAST PRESIDENT

Dr. Solomon, after thanking the officers of the Association, the committee chairmen, and Helen Fischer and her staff for their help throughout her term of office, introduced the new President, Dr. Arnold Cooper:

"We are most fortunate that Dr. Arnold Cooper, who will momentarily be President, has a firm grasp of the issues and has the imagination and ingenuity for effective leadership. In his year as President-elect, he has demonstrated both his desire and capacity to cope with our problems.
