Report on the Sigmund Freud Archives

Harold P. Blum, M.D.

The Freud Collection

This has been a very busy year for The Sigmund Freud Archives, with intense world-wide interest in Freud's life and work. A number of Freud documents of great importance have either just been published or are in the process of being edited and prepared for publication. Collections of Freud documents derestricted by The Sigmund Freud Archives are now being edited or are in press.

During 1991 there have been important further derestrictions, including a number of early Freud letters originally donated by Dr B. Pacella, the Freud/Fliess letters, the Freud/Edith Jackson letters and the Freud/Joan Riviere correspondence. The Freud/Joan Riviere correspondence adds to our knowledge of Freud's relationship both to Joan Riviere and to Ernest Jones and further shows his feelings about the Melanie Klein/Anna Freud controversy. This newly released correspondencce is available to be read at both The Library of Congress in Washington, DC and the Freud Museum, London. To preclude illegal utilization of Freud documents and copyright violations, photocopying is not permitted.
