Handbook of Attachment. Theory, Research, and Clinical Applications (Third Edition), edited by Jude Cassidy and Phillip R. Shaver, Guilford Press, 2016

Review by:
Christopher Clulow, Ph.D.

The Handbook of Attachment was first published in 1999 to pull together the main threads in the rapidly expanding body of theory and research prompted by the work of the parents of attachment theory, John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth, and to explore its potential applications to clinical practice. In 2008, the volume was revised, updating the first with developments that had occurred since the publication of the original. This is the third edition, extending the arc of this weighty volume to include aspects of neuroscience, psychophysiology, genetics, and other additions that are relevant to the fast-growing field of attachment studies.
