Our board is led by volunteers who provide a significant amount of time ensuring that we offer psychoanalytic education to our communities. I am proud of our board and the amount of work they accomplish for NCSPP outside of their already busy professional and personal lives.
Our committees are working on the following:
The Community Events Committee, led by Nicole Hsiang, puts on our events throughout the year emphasizing community building. This committee hosts our annual holiday party, and it's always a fun event to connect with our colleagues.
Stefania Pifer and David Cushman lead the Community Mental Health Committee, dedicated to social justice leadership. They encourage membership and events that address the clinical work within community mental health that typically focuses on complex disorders and often the underserved. They are working on visiting local agencies to increase our outreach to include the needs of community mental health advocates.
The Editorial Committee, led by Peter Silen, produces our biannual journal, fort da, a publication that features essays, interviews, and poetry from progressive psychoanalytic thinkers on topics related to psychoanalytic theory and practice, as well as reviews of literature and film. We always look forward to the next journal with its exciting new writings (also available on PEP-Web, the online psychoanalytic library).
The Education Committee, led by Shannon Rogers, has a longstanding history of developing in-depth courses. Under Shannon's direction, the committee has several innovative courses scheduled this year.
Sydney Tan leads the Impulse Committee, which creates our Impulse newsletter, providing an online connection to our members with interesting articles, public posts, and advertisements. Sydney is an excellent editor with substantial writing talent, who succinctly organizes information into a small space.
