Committee Reports

Community Events Committee

Nicole Hsiang, LMFT, Chair

The CEC committee (Delia Asquel, Luba Palter, Sohi Lachini, Brooke Pomerantz, and I) hosted a late-summer community potluck, Telling Immigrant Stories Through Food, where guests shared food and stories in the backyard of a private home. This event fostered meaningful connection among our members, and the committee hopes to make it an annual event. Now, our committee prepares for the annual Northern California Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology Holiday Party on Friday, December 7, a festive event for both new and senior clinicians to mingle and celebrate the year-end over drinks and hors d'oeuvres.

As a committee, we are dedicated to creating events that are welcoming and unintimidating. I believe the relationships we build in this field are invaluable with regards to collaboration, consultation, referrals, and friendship; for that reason, it is our sincere hope to facilitate community in this organization as best we can.

I want to thank my fellow committee members for all of their hard work and dedication. I appreciate your efforts tremendously, and it has been a joy to work with you.

Community Mental Health Committee

David Cushman, Psy.D. & Stefania Pifer, Psy.D., Co-Chairs

The Community Mental Health Committee — David Cushman (co-chair), Stefania Pifer (co-chair), Katherine Eng, Peggy Kim, and Suresh Chacko — has been working on developing programming that is meaningful for Bay Area CMH clinicians, both for professional and personal fulfillment.

Based on our previous outreach and information gathering sessions at multiple CMH agencies, we are focusing on two main issues for the upcoming year: community building and providing access to high-quality professional development and support programming.

For community building, we are holding a series of networking events for CMH clinicians at various Bay Area museums.
