Scientific Activities of the Associazione di Studi Psicoanalitici (ASP) (Milan) for the Years 1995 and 1996

In the last two years our scientific activity has been manyfold. In the first place, Johannes Cremerius (Freiburg im Breisgau) and Sergio Bordi (Rome) have continued to give their monthly clinical seminars with our members. We have also organized several conferences, in Milan and Turin, centered around themes such as psychoanalysis and society, psychoanalysis and literature, psychotherapy of the psychoses and the theoretical and clinical problems posed by hysteria. At the same time, our two research groups, one on empirical research in psychoanalysis and the other on psychoanalysis and art, have continued their regular activity. Very important for us was also the organization of our First International Congress, which was held in Milan on March 15-17 1996. Last but not least, we were able to start anew with our society's journal (see the special report dedicated to it): after having published it privately for six years. From the beginning of 1996 the publishing house “Moretti e Vitali” took over the journal under the new name of Setting. I will now concentrate on both ASP's research activities and our international congress.

The group on “Empirical Research in Psychoanalysis” (gruppo LADA), which was started in 1992, pursues the aim of working out a model for inquiry into the problem of validation in psychoanalysis. After a thorough study of the work conducted by H.
