New Year, New Start

Stuart W Twemlow, M.D. and Nadia Ramzy, Ph.D.

Earlier this year, we heard from Colin Whurr, the prior publisher of the International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies, that he would be retiring at the end of April and that Whurr Publishers would pass into the ownership of John Wiley & Sons. Founded in 1807, Wiley is an international independent publisher of print and electronic products, specializing in scientific, technical, and medical books and journals; professional and consumer books and subscription services; and textbooks and other educational materials for undergraduate and graduate students as well as lifelong learners.

Our journal was launched in January 1999 under the aegis of Plenum/Human Sciences Press. In 2004, Whurr became the publisher of the journal under its new and current name — the International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies - (it had previously been published as the Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies). Whurr has been a supportive and very helpful publisher, and has nursed us through the transition from our previous publisher with great expertise coupled with plenty of sound advice and solid help. The Editors and Editorial Board have reason to be extremely grateful to Colin Whurr and all his team. Colin retires with our very good wishes and thanks.

Our new publisher is enthusiastic about support for the International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies. The Editors have already developed a close working relationship with the team at Wiley, and welcome the change of publisher, and the transition has been exceptionally smooth so far, with a great deal of good will on all sides.
