Telepathic dreams occurred in patients when the analyst wished to participate in such happenings. The manifest content of the dreams relating to the analyst all had unpleasant connections for the analyst and referred to incidents which the analyst wished to avoid. The wish to participate in telepathic happenings helped overcome anxiety which would ordinarily inhibit recognition of repressed content of the analyst's unconscious.
