Kama-Sutra of Vatsyana (The Hindoo Art of Love): Translated and edited by B. M. Basu. Revised by S. L. Ghosh. (Calcutta: Medical Book Co., Fifth Edition, 1944. Pp. 282. R.F. 6.)

Review by:
W. Clifford M. Scott

Psycho-analysts will be indebted to a member of the Indian Society, Mr. Ghosh, for a revision of Dr. Basu's translation of this Sanskrit work which dates from before the fifth century A.D.

Every-day Psychoanalysis. By G. S. Bose. (Calcutta: Susil Gupta Publishing Co., 1945. Pp. 280. R.F. 6.)

This popular introduction to psycho-analysis by the former President of the Indian Society begins with a general statement regarding modern psychology. It ends with a historical description of psycho-analysis, the psycho-analytic view of normality, the psycho-analytic claims with regard to treatment and an outline biography of Sigmund Freud. In the body of the book the analytic interpretation of choice of work, normal mood variations, childhood development, crime, dreams, marital difficulties in general and sexual difficulties in particular are discussed in a manner suited to those with no previous acquaintance with psychology or psycho-analysis.
