The contemporary trends and divisions within the English schools of psycho-analysis are brought into sharper focus with Guntrip's book on Personality Study and Human Interaction. The author himself is a devoted partisan of W. R. D. Fairbairn. Nevertheless he undertakes to place his views as well as those of his contemporaries in a historical perspective which is of great interest.
