Review by:
John Klauber

This is the first of a series of monographs on topics of basic importance to be sponsored by the Psychoanalytic Research and Development Fund founded in the Freud Centenary Year. A small group of psychoanalysts was invited to submit papers. These were circulated, and the entire group then met for three days of discussion. The volume consists of their rewritten papers. The contributors in order are: S. Furst, who also edited the book, Leo Rangell, P. Neubauer, Phyllis Greenacre, J. Sandler, A. Solnit and Marianne Kris, R. Waelder and Anna Freud, who presents her conclusions.
