Sandler, J. (1974). Editorial. Int. J. Psycho-Anal., 55:1-1.

(1974). International Journal of Psycho-Analysis, 55:1-1

Editorial

Joseph Sandler

This issue of the Journal contains papers, discussions and reports from the 28th International Psycho-Analytical Congress, held in Paris in July 1973.

As in previous years, the task of selecting papers to be presented at the Congress was undertaken by the Programme Committee of the International Psycho-Analytical Association. These papers, together with their discussion by the official discussants, will be published in this and subsequent issues of the Journal, and the credit for the choice of papers belongs entirely to the Programme Committee.

Once again, as Editor, I should like to record my appreciation of the work of those responsible for the organization of the Congress and its programme. The Programme Committee's cochairmen, and especially its secretary, Dr Edward Weinshel, made every effort to synchronize and integrate the work of the Committee and the requirements of the Journal, particularly in regard to the putting of papers into the appropriate style for publication, meeting printing deadlines and, in general, overcoming, as far as possible, the innumerable and inevitable difficulties encountered in transmuting the content of papers prepared for oral presentation into readable form.

I should like to record my gratitude to the printers of the Journal for their achievement in producing this Congress issue under extremely difficult industrial conditions during this last winter.
