Joseph Sandler

The 'Jerusalem Congress' was a very special one, in that among other things, it was the 30th International Psycho-Analytical Congress to be held. It took place in Israel from August 22nd until August 26th, 1977. For the second time it was presided over by Prof. Serge Lebovici. Three invited papers (by J. Arlow, A. Green and A. Limentani) were published before the Congress was held, and appeared in this Journal, Volume 58, 1977. Because of the success of the 'dialogues' held in London, further simultaneous dialogues were held in Jerusalem, and these will be reported in a later issue. Individual scientific papers were given, as usual, and special colloquia were held. The Congress was a most successful one in every respect.

The Programme Committee of the I.P.A. was responsible for devising the programme, for choosing the papers, speakers, discussants and reporters for the Congress. Once again they have assumed the responsibility for editing the Congress material, and gave me, as Editor, helpful suggestions and decisions. I want to express my appreciation to them, and to the Executive Secretary of the I.P.A., Mrs Irene Auletta, for all her help in coordinating arrangements for the publication of the Congress Proceedings—always a very difficult task.
