New Editorial Team

David Tuckett

A new editorial team starts work with this part of Volume 74. I have become sole Editor, with Dr Jorge L. Ahumada taking over as Editor for Latin America, Dr Arnold M. Cooper as Editor for North America and Dr Jean-Michel Quinodoz as Editor for Europe. Our term of office will last until late in 1998.

It is with very great sadness that I must report that my colleague and previous Joint Editor, Tom Hayley, died on Wednesday 23rd June. He was almost eighty years old and had served first as Editor (1978-1988) and then as Joint Editor, being due to retire this September. He was a marvellous colleague and worked untiringly to improve psychoanalytic scholarship and communication worldwide and he will be greatly missed. An obituary will appear in a later issue.

Dr Horacio Etchegoyen (Editor for Latin America 1989-1993), Mrs Anne-Marie Sandler (Editor for Europe 1987-1993) and Dr Vann Spruiell (Editor for North America 1988-1993) now retire. They have all given unstintingly of their time and energy and have brought their very considerable intellects and abilities to the task. The departure of such highly valued colleagues will inevitably place a burden on the rest of us. Were Tom Hayley still alive I know he would want to join me in thanking all of them very much indeed. They will remain associated with the Journal as Consultant Associate Editors.

Dr Jorge L. Ahumada, our new Editor for Latin America, graduated with honours from the Buenos Aires University School of Medicine
