Two sessions with Lawrence Language Translation

Neville Symington, Jorge L. Ahumada and Bjørn Killingmo

Session of 23 December 2002

Lawrence came in with his black briefcase and put it down at his side. He wore a grey suit with a grey shirt and a dark brown tie with emblems of a church tower embossed upon it in light gold. He was of Italian extraction. His hair was dark brown and neatly brushed. He was a tall man with a long nose and wavy brown hair. He was the director of a small but prosperous advertising agency. He looked at me piercingly as he came in. It was the last session for a month.

P: At this time of year a whole lot of work comes in. People like to get all their affairs buttoned up before they go off on holiday so we are deluged with a whole lot of work. Usually I would feverishly do it all myself but instead I delegated it. I farmed out different profiles to different people and except with one or two I was quite happy with the way they did it.

I was thinking, this is a good sign. He can relax a bit, he can trust more, and he is less driven.

A: So you can trust more.

P: Stephanie I could trust entirely. There was one I was a little worried about but … it was all right.

Then I was sitting in the office and I suddenly had the thought to ring up Victor and suggest that we had dinner together. I suggested that he and I and Teresa go out together for dinner but Teresa was already going out with a friend so just Victor and I went out together and it was such an enjoyable evening. There—I came home from work and the two of us went out. I had some leisure for the first time. Instead of coming home all fraught and bad tempered I was at ease and it was so enjoyable.

You know Victor has done really well. In his four subjects he has had results from three of them: he got 91 in one subject, 82 in another and 75 in a third.
