Tip: To see translations of Freud SE or GW…

PEP-Web Tip of the Day

When you hover your mouse over a paragraph of the Standard Edition (SE) long enough, the corresponding text from Gesammelte Werke slides from the bottom of the PEP-Web window, and vice versa.

If the slide up window bothers you, you can turn it off by checking the box “Turn off Translations” in the slide-up.  But if you’ve turned it off, how do you turn it back on?  The option to turn off the translations only is effective for the current session (it uses a stored cookie in your browser).  So the easiest way to turn it back on again is to close your browser (all open windows), and reopen it.

Il counselling psicodinamico [Psychodynamic counselling] By Andreas Giannakoulas and Santa Fizzarotti Selvaggi Roma: Borla. 2003. 398 pp.

Review by:
Cinzia Lucantoni

Counselling is usually thought of as a time-limited form of help offered in situations of crisis. In this book, Giannakoulas and Fizzarotti Selvaggi extend the concept of counselling and focus their attention in particular on the quality of analytic listening which can be offered in brief interventions, whether for the purpose of diagnosis, intake or as therapeutic consultations. According to the view presented by the authors, counselling would not be defined by, or confined to, the external aspects of its technique, but would instead depend on the internal features of the analyst and of the therapeutic relationship.

For this reason, the frequency, the length and the psychopathological field of counselling, as different from other forms of intervention, are (deliberately, I suppose) not specified by the authors.
