Response to Dr Riccardo Lombardi Related Papers

John Steiner

Dear Sirs,

I was pleased to read the letter from Dr Lombardi because it adds a dimension to the discussion of the material in my paper which complements the interpretations I made.

Certainly it seems evident and important that shame and humiliation are often associated with our perceptions of the body, and excretory and sexual functions are particularly vulnerable to feelings of being observed.

I look forward to acquainting myself with some of the research in this area which Dr Lombardi quotes and agree that it may open up a more primitive level of functioning which it would be important to understand.

Yours sincerely,
