The quality of the Journal depends on its authors, its editorial board, and particularly its regional editors. The Journal has been immensely fortunate in the gifted and dedicated individuals who have been, continue in, and are now joining that last group. We write to tell you of recent changes.

Jorge Canestri has been appointed to the post of Editor for Europe starting on January 1, 2010. He graduated with first class honours in Medicine, Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Having emigrated to Italy in 1976, he is a training and supervising psychoanalyst both of the Asociación Psicoanalítica Argentina and of the Italian Psychoanalytical Association and is currently President of the Italian Psychoanalytical Association. He was director of the ‘Institute of Psychoanalysis’ of the Italian Psychoanalytic Association from 1992 to 1998 and Professor of Psychology of Mental Health at the Roma 3 University, and invited Professor at the Univerité Paris X, Nanterre. In 2004 he received the Mary S. Sigourney Award. He is a member of the Conceptual and Empirical Research committee of the IPA, Chair of the Working Party on Theoretical Issues of the E.P.F and a member of Advisory Board of The Philoctetes Center.

He has written or edited six books; the most recent, Putting Theory to Work: How are Theories actually used in Psychoanalytical Practice? is in press with Karnac Books of London.

Dr. Canestri has a long experience of working for the International Journal of Psychoanalysis, as a member of the European board and as Chair of the Education Section.
