A quote from Winnicott's unpublished notes for the 27th IPA Congress in 1971 appears on the cover of Donald Winnicott Today, and is also used as an epigram by the editor, Jan Abram, for her Introduction to this landmark collection of essays: “I am asking for a kind of revolution in our work. Let us re-examine what we do” (p. 312). Winnicott died some six months before the Vienna Congress, leaving us 40 years later to ask of his work what he would have asked for ours.
