PEP-Web Tip of the Day

If you know the bibliographic details of a journal article, use the Journal Section to find it quickly. First, find and click on the Journal where the article was published in the Journal tab on the home page. Then, click on the year of publication. Finally, look for the author’s name or the title of the article in the table of contents and click on it to see the article.

the author makes a brief consideration on the difference between "negative transference"and"transference of negativity",underlying how the former appears as a strategic element of analytic process whereas the latter is characterised by negativity both of the object and the subject, held by the patient as the only method of relating (White relationship).Through a clinical case the author highlights the analyst's approach to the negative within the patient and the attention given to small changes, the sounds of his body and imperceptible movements of his fingers, which accompany the development of an awareness of his Self and of the analyst's existence, after a year of silence and stiiness. Finally the evolutionary aspect, both philogenetic and ontogenetic, of the interpersonal communication preceding verbal communication, is examined
