Dear Professor,

In these sad days your letter contains at least one item to gladden the heart: namely, that in the interval your interest in your cause and in the cause of all of us is creatively engaged again, and that the long enforced period of rest will be of benefit to this. It will be late in the day and your thoughts will be ready for publication before any of it will come my way. When I read in the September Journal of your April lecture on narcissism to the Association, I thought with impatience that I would have to wait to read it in the new number of the Jahrbuch.
