Neurotic and Psychotic Transference and Projective Identification

Mario Pacheco de A. Prado

SUMMARY

The author presents in this paper a condensation of his ideas about the application of the concept of the projective identification as an element of fundamental importance for the treatment of neurosis and psychosis, once the identification and the perception is viewed as a consequence of a previous projective identification.

He tries to show his theoretical point of view as a valuable instrumental to understand the transference phenomena in its neurotic or psychotic areas. As an illustration for the theories elaborated in this paper, he presents some clinical material on his behalf.
