PEP-Web Tip of the Day

If you get a large number of results after searching for an article by a specific author, you can refine your search by adding the author’s first initial. For example, try writing “Freud, S.” in the Author box of the Search Tool.

David Tuckett

This being the first part of the Review for 1989 it is also the first under the Joint Editorship of Tom Hayley and myself. From now the day-to-day running of the International Journal and International Review will be up to me but in the very favoured situation of having the previous editor, with ten years experience behind him, still available to give advice and to help make important decisions. I am very grateful to him for staying on. Because Tom Hayley is now retiring from the sole editorship after ten very successful and strenuous years in office, I feel sure that readers and contributors will want to join me in thanking him for his unstinting and tireless efforts on behalf of us all.

An important innovation made by Tom Hayley during his term of office and to which I want to draw your attention, has been his creation of regional Editorial Boards, made up of an editor and colleagues chosen by that editor to represent the various traditions within that region. For many years there was a North American Editor and this has been extended so that papers from North America are submitted through him to the North American Editorial Board. The development of the Editorial Boards for Europe and Latin America which followed have widened this concept and allow authors from these continents to submit papers written in the three other official languages of the International Psychoanalytical Association (French, German and Spanish) as well as in other languages such as Portuguese or Italian.
