Die Autorin bemühte sich, durch Befragung der Eltern oder Angehörigen von 320 schwierigen Kindern in New York Näheres über die ihnen erteilten Onanie-Drohungen zu erfahren. Obwohl Ref. die Bedeutung solcher Methoden zur Erforschung dieses Problems nicht sehr hoch anschlagen möchte — schon deshalb, weil ja die Eltern, bewußt oder unbewußt, nicht immer die Wahrheit sagen dürften — muß er doch zugeben, daß selbst dieses durch so unzulängliche Methodik gewonnene Material erschreckend ist: In 40% der Fälle hatten die Eltern besondere onaniebekämpfende Maßnahmen vorgenommen; in 20,3% dieser Fälle wieder wurden die Kinder der Onanie wegen faktisch bestraft, in 84,4% schwer bedroht, und zwar in 36% mit körperlicher Beschädigung der Genitalien.
