Der Artikel stellt die wenigen auffindbaren Informationen über ihn zusammen und beschreibt Burkes Wirken im spannungsreichen Kontext der Psychoanalyse in Rio in den 1950er Jahren.

Summary: Mark Burke (1900-1975), a little-known pioneer of psychoanalysis in Brasilia. This paper collects the sparse information that can be found about Mark Burke, founder of the Sociedade Brasileira de Psicanálise do Rio de Janeiro (SBPRJ), and describes his acitivities in the conflictual context of psychoanalysis in Rio in the 1950s.
