Kurt R. Eissler

A male patient, aged thirty-one, had transient difficulty in swallowing for seven months. Physical and x-ray examination were negative. Esophagoscopic examination revealed alternating changes from spasm to relaxation concomitant with depressing or pleasurable thoughts. The patient had a history of neurotic conflicts.
