We have received a communication from Dr. Ernst Federn pertaining to the letter from Dr. Henry Lowenfeld which was published in The Quarterly, Vol. XLVI, p. 359. While he feels that Dr. Lowenfeld's comments are well taken, Dr. Federn wishes to correct the impression that Dr. Herman Nunberg had not completed the editing of the volumes in question. Dr. Nunberg had finished the editing before his death, and it had been his judgment that Freud's use of Moebiu's terminology ("women's physiological imbecility") needed no explanatory annotation when it appeared in Volume III, as specific reference had been made to Moebius's book in Volume I of the Minutes (p. 226).
