In this short article Gedo offers us a way out of a difficulty he sees in formal psychoanalytic education: the aura of mediocrity that manifests itself today in

current schools. This mediocrity is already widespread and is becoming increasingly so. Gedo's solution to this problem is to revise totally our psychoanalytic education, which would involve choosing only the best and having a much more mature, elite, and exceptional student evolve as a psychoanalyst. He feels that the best place for this would be a university setting.
