The author, after defining her concept of borderline as congruent with the concepts of Kernberg and Masterson, outlines her treatment and adult follow-up of seven borderline adolescent outpatients. Although some patients in early adulthood show evidence of better object relations than others, all are still functioning in the borderline range. They have, however, with the aid of therapy, apparently been able to do some "catching up" in the direction of improved ego integration.
