In this refreshingly clear, cautionary little paper, the author reviews the history of psychoanalytic attitudes toward parents, especially the parents of adolescent patients. He warns against the overly enthusiastic espousal of family therapy in all instances and offers some practical suggestions about work with adolescents and their parents.
