The issue of sexual boundary violations in our profession is discussed from the vantage point of a faculty member. The major issues that require attention include creation of a safe and secure environment for candidates, dispelling denial, combating mystification, and metabolizing the strong feelings generated by such a breach. Addressing these issues assures a minimization of the possibility of enactment of the violation on an institutional level. It is only in doing so that we create the therapeutic holding environment for the teaching and learning of psychoanalysis to occur.
