An award is given every two years at the national meeting of the American Academy of Psychodynamic Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis to the author(s) of the best article published in Psychodynamic Psychiatry during the preceding two years. This spring, a prize of $2,500 was awarded to Dr. David Mintz for his article “Recovery from Childhood Psychiatric Treatment: Addressing the Meaning of Medications,” published in Psychodynamic Psychiatry, 47(3), 235-256. The editors of Psychodynamic Psychiatry congratulate Dr. Mintz for his perceptive and compelling work.

A graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine, voted the most outstanding student in his class, Dr. Mintz pursued psychiatric training at Cambridge Hospital and completed a fellowship in psychodynamic psychiatry at Austen Riggs. Remaining at Austen Riggs, he now serves as Clinical Team Leader, Associate Director of Training, and Director of Psychiatric Education. He recently completed a term as Leader of the Psychotherapy Caucus at the American Psychiatric Association, during which the Caucus grew to over 700 members. He is the author of a number of outstanding papers on the psychodynamics of psychopharmacology and treatment resistance in psychiatric patients.
