A Type of Identification with Christ

A patient with grandiose and exhibitionistic characteristics, who relentlessly pursued women in an unending series of conquests, is presented to demonstrate a particular aspect of a Christ identification which, to our knowledge, has not been previously discussed in the psychoanalytic literature. Specifically, he unconsciously identified with the adult Christ image in which physical perfection is emphasized—an image that evokes adoration and has the power to excite the senses.
