Psychology's prescriptive authority (RxP-) agenda is now 2 decades in the making and reflects the gradual evolution of the profession into our nation's health care arena. Prescriptive authority provides our clinicians with a unique opportunity to strategically manage treatment and gives our patients access to a qualitatively different treatment perspective. The behavioral sciences are absolutely critical to ensuring “quality” health care, including mental health care.
