Tip: To use Pocket to save bookmarks to PEP-Web articles…

PEP-Web Tip of the Day

Pocket (formerly “Read-it-later”) is an excellent third-party plugin to browsers for saving bookmarks to PEP-Web pages, and categorizing them with tags.

To save a bookmark to a PEP-Web Article:

  • Use the plugin to “Save to Pocket”
  • The article referential information is stored in Pocket, but not the content. Basically, it is a Bookmark only system.
  • You can add tags to categorize the bookmark to the article or book section.

Review by:
Z. A. Piotrowski

This second comprehensive survey of current psychoanalytic theory and practice covers the year 1951. An attempt was made, as in the case of Volume I, to cover the entire accessible literature. However, some articles purportedly “psychoanalytic” were eliminated because of their inferior quality or because they contributed nothing new. On the other hand some articles which were published in nonpsychoanalytic journals and which were not ostensibly psychoanalytic were included because of their psychoanalytic character and good quality. Eleven books were given lengthy reviews, some of them written by the authors themselves. The large number of 276 articles was reviewed. Some of these reviews contain the critical comments of the reviewer. The editors attempted to give an objective account of the literature and in this aim they succeeded well. The survey is highly readable and actually rarely reads as a summary. Brevity does not interfere with completeness of logical exposition. This impressive survey is divided very well in appropriate chapters. The index is very helpful. Even the bibliography is an index because it shows the pages on which each article is reviewed. Needless to say, the survey includes also publications critical of psychoanalysis which were reviewed with the same fairness as the other writings. The Survey is a great aid to anyone interested in modern psychopathology.
