Prolific in his writings on the cutting edge between psychoanalysis and neuroscience, Allan N. Schore now offers a collection of his works, taking us beyond intra-brain research into the next generation of inter-brain studies, consisting of “quantifying the interactions between individuals transcending the boundaries of the skull” (p. 9, emphasis in original). Freud's intent to ground psychoanalysis in biology was discounted for decades by followers in favor of revisions based on semiotics and hermeneutics. Now Schore is discounting those revisions and returning us, via biology and neuroscience, to a new caput Nili in which cognitive interchanges during treatment are not as important as a “two body” psychology (pp. 31, 192) otherwise known as right-brain communication.
