Se il mito d'Edipo, la vicenda più drammatica della tragedia greca, rappresenta la pietra miliare della psicoanalisi freudiana, una posizione altrettanto centrale esso sembra proprio meritarla, stando all'ultimo libro di P. Grosskurth, a livello di storia del movimento psicoanalitico. In questione è il paradigmatico rapporto di Freud con i suoi «paladini» riuniti — su proposta di Jones — nel cosiddetto Comitato segreto, che l'autrice per la prima volta esplora alla luce delle famose Rundbriefe, le lettere circolari da Rank trafugate in America e ora depositate presso la Columbia University di New York.
