La calle es un frecuente símbolo genital, tanto en los sueños como en la literatura:

Hace don Luis, tu vecina

mucha fuerza en ques doncella,

y yo no acierto a creella,

ni a tal mi estrella me inclina,

Alumbra más que la esfera

de diamantes adornada:

calle tan bien empedrada

sin duda que es pasajera.

En la poesía siguiente de Góngora la espada es un símbolo fálico y el escudo un símbolo femenino.
