À partir d'une discussion du cas de Julien K, envisagé sous l'angle d'une mobilisation des enveloppes psychiques du patient dans le travail analytique, l'auteur trace les grandes lignes d'une conception des processus de changement reposant sur la transformation des configurations psychiques. Celle-ci est rendue possible par l'activation ou la réactivation de transpositions topiques entre différents espaces psychiques, engageant des phénomènes transitionnels spécifiques à chaque transposition, dont la conjonction réalise un réseau transitionnel intermédiaire.
