(The Disquiet of the Analyst/Researcher in the Position of a Teacher/Researcher)

Psychoanalyst and teacher/researcher: what is the relationship today between these two “impossible professions”? The idea had already been envisaged that the training of clinical psychologists in psychoanalysis should be carried out by non-psychoanalysts, but this now tends to be recommended anyway. The organic relationship between metapsychology, the psychoanalytic method and the question of the frame is thereby called into question. In this worrying context for psychoanalysis - which goes well beyond the university context - the epistemological model of psychoanalysis at the university, according to Laplanche, is an essential reference. The challenge for the analyst in the position of teacher/researcher consists in finding a style of presentation that is consistent with a way of being with psychoanalysis. That is to say, a style that gives sufficient access both to the clinical and methodological issues in psychoanalytic theory and to the theoretical and methodological issues raised by the clinical situations experienced by the clinical psychologist in training.
