Tzvetan Todorov, one of the foremost structuralist critics, was born in Sofia in 1939, and completed his studies in Paris, where he presently lives and works.

In Poetica della prosa, Todorov writes about the characheristics of the various literary genres. Besides noticing the similarity between the questions the author asks, and the ones regarding theoretical models which we analysts deal with, what struck me about this book was how it managed continually to clarify for me certain questions concerning our most topical and controversial theoretical points.
