The Functions and Working-Through of Resistances in the Analytic Process Language Translation

Enrico Cesare Gori, Francesco Conrotto, Fausta Ferraro and Celestino Genovese

Foreword

The collecting of the following papers into a Congress Panel is the natural culmination of previous individual lines of research. These had started out from the interest of each author in the primitive organisation of the mind and in the progressive maturation which proceeds from fragmentary somatic functioning towards the acquisition and consolidation of a mental boundary and of the related representational universe.

As long ago as 1976 one of us carried out an in-depth study of this model of development, which prompted him to make his first reflections on resistance and the functions it performs in the maturation process (Gori 1976).
