PEP-Web Tip of the Day

Evernote is a general note taking application that integrates with your browser. You can use it to save entire articles, bookmark articles, take notes, and more. It comes in both a free version which has limited synchronization capabilities, and also a subscription version, which raises that limit. You can download Evernote for your computer here. It can be used online, and there’s an app for it as well.

Some of the things you can do with Evernote:

  • Save search-result lists
  • Save complete articles
  • Save bookmarks to articles

I Definition and historical survey.

History relates, that when the king of Sweden, Charles IX, in his old age saw that the task in his life would be left unfinished, he had pointed to his son, the future king Gustavus II Adolphus and expressed those famous words: “Ille faciet”, or “May he do it”. This sentence has usually been connected with a son, the one who is bound to fulfil his father's wishes. Often this involves continuing the father's vocation, promoting his career in a scientific, commercial or industrial or e.g. agricultural field. Old academic traditions, families with clergymen in several generations, hereditary domains, artisan families in which the art passes over from father to son, are all very common phenomena even in our country, as are also old stores which have been owned by the same family through many generations.
