Margaret Little, M.R.C. Psych.

Stefi and I first met at the London Congress in 1953, and we remained friends ever after, though we had not been able to meet now for many years.

I know very little of her life-story, but much of her as a person and an analyst. Her gaiety and liveliness hid the deep sadness underneath, which she never hid from herself. She was one of the bravest, most forthright and steadfast people I have known, with a creativity and a capacity for understanding the feelings of others which many of us might wish to have.

She was incapable of disparagement or envy of others, not seeking distinction or popularity for herself, but according others the same respect as she held for herself.

We have lost a friend and colleague without whom the world is the poorer, but her work will live on for many, also outside the world of psychoanalysis.
