Antonie Ladan

Summary

The Discomfort of Transference

The therapist's unease in using the transference makes it more difficult to elucidate the implicit relational patterns that impede the patient. The author links this unease, among other things, to insufficient familiarity with one's own inner world. He illustrates his argument with examples concerning the attribution of primacy to the inner world of the patient and the acceptance by the therapist of a self-image as conman.

Key words: implicit relational patterns, primacy of the patient's inner world, the therapist as conman, transference and unease
